Jewel Thief – Blocking

posted by Freddy

Here’s my blocking pass for this shot. The ending feels a little too abrupt so I might have to go back and simplify it. He’s supposed to be relieved that he caught the gem then glare at Stewie. Thinking of cutting out the glare part but keeping that he’s relieved that he caught it.

Any feedback would be much appreciated! :)

Notes:
- Looks like the last pose on the first 2 shots was cut off, not too sure why.
- 167-ish push antic for the run, get a strong C shape
- 209 make hopping more clear and open to camera
- last shot, gem travels too far screen right, more screen left just barely out of Stewie’s grasp. Boris grabs it at last second. Skip exhale, and go to glare.

  1. Jerry Kung Said,

I love the hat grab on the double-take! Really funny. But I’m not a big fan of the straight leg in the pose at 138. The hopping around the corner is cool, so I’m glad you’ll be accentuating it. Story-wise, I did NOT get why he fell into the paddy wagon because there was no lead up to it. I’d say either put the wagon near the corner and have a glimpse of it as Stewie turns the corner. OR follow Stewie’s run a bit down the alley as he’s looking back at the cop, then have him run into the wagon. Having him look back would explain why he doesn’t see the wagon.

Hey Jerry, good to hear from you man! Thanks for taking a look at my shot. I see what you mean about the wagon, I’ll try and work it into the second shot to establish its there. Thanks again for the all notes, much appreciated!
