Kina Grannis – Valentine (music video)

posted by Freddy

Here’s an interesting concept for a music video just in time for the Valentine weekend. The animated parts are done by dvd cases falling in a domino effect.

Check out the link below for some behind-the-scenes info on how the music video was created.

A.D. Teaser (CG zombie movie)

posted by Freddy

Check out this teaser for a CG Zombie movie, it looks pretty nicely done and I really like the design of the zombies in it. Looking forward to hearing more about this.

Also, here’s an interview from the people behind it. No mention of when it’s coming out or who’s working on it though.

posted by Freddy

The Oscar nominees for 2010 have been posted. Looks like Up is nominated for Best Picture and Best Animated Feature which is pretty awesome considering the last animated feature film to be nominated for Best Picture was Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Check out the entire list of nominees below:

Writing Home – Polish

posted by Freddy

I just put up a polish pass of the Writing Home clip I’ve been working on. I’ll probably go through it one more time and polish it up a bit more before moving on to a new test. Feel free to check it out at the link below or by clicking the Animation tab at the top of this page. Any feedback would be much appreciated!

John K’s post on Facial Expressions

posted by Freddy

There’s a pretty informative post on John Kricfalusi’s blog about facial expressions. He covers different aspects from the elements that make up a facial expression, general expressions used by everyone, construction, etc. Definitely a good read. Hit the link below to check it out:

Digiref – References for the Digital Artist

posted by Freddy

Just ran across this site today on the AM forums (thanks for the link Maria!) and wanted to share it with all of you. It’s a site dedicated to image and video references for digital artists. They have walks, jumps, cats, etc. Not sure if it’s something that just started or how often they do update, but it’s definitely worth checking out. What would be great feature to add on would be the ability to upload user  content, but nevertheless its a very useful site. Link follows below:

Added New Animation Links

posted by Freddy

Just a quick post to say that I added a couple of new links. I’m sure most of you know of them already but just in case you didn’t…

First up is Animator’s Resource – Great site for keeping up to date on anything animation-related. There’s a lot of info about animation on there and links to a huge number of animation-related sites.

The other is Speaking of Animation – Another great site started by some animators over at Dreamworks. They have podcasts, interviews, and some great tips about character animation.

Definitely bookmark these when you get a chance.
